Exciting New Cast Member Joins Broadway’s “Aladdin”
November 18, 2024Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge!” Welcomes Robert Petkoff to the Stage
Broadway’s dazzling spectacle, “Moulin Rouge!”, is about to get even more exciting! Starting November 22, Robert Petkoff will step into the fabulous shoes of Harold Zidler at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. He’ll be dazzling audiences until January 5, 2025, while the current Zidler, Austin Durant, takes a break. Until then, company understudies Patrick Clanton and Frank Viveros will bring the role to life through November 21, with Durant’s return date still to be announced.
Petkoff isn’t new to the Moulin Rouge family; he joined the national tour as Zidler back in September 2023. His Broadway journey includes standout roles like Hubert Humphrey in 2014’s “All the Way,” Tateh in the 2009 revival of “Ragtime,” and Perchick in the 2004 version of “Fiddler on the Roof.” He even took on memorable roles in “Anything Goes” and “Spamalot.” Plus, he’s made waves as Bruce in the touring company of “Fun Home.”
Joining Petkoff on stage will be a talented ensemble including Solea Pfeiffer as Satine, John Cardoza as Christian, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as the Duke of Monroth, Pepe Muñoz as Santiago, and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini. The casting talents of Jim Carnahan and Stephen Kopel have truly shined in bringing this vibrant cast together.
Set against the backdrop of Belle Époque Paris, “Moulin Rouge!” tells the passionate tale of Christian, a young writer who falls head over heels for Satine, the star of the notorious Moulin Rouge nightclub. With Tony Award-winning direction by Alex Timbers and choreography masterfully crafted by Sonya Tayeh, this show opened its doors on July 25, 2019, and has since scooped up an impressive 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The production even recouped its costs in 2022!
